With the days getting shorter and colder, opportunities to play outside gets fewer. It may seem like there is nothing for your kids to do but to watch TV or play video games all day. However, there are ways to help your kids achieve their daily dosage of activities while having fun at the same time. Here are some ideas to help keep your kids and yourself active throughout the winter.
- Drive up to the nearest mountain (Grouse or Cypress) and park: there where the snow is plentiful and vast, your family can take a stroll through the scenery. It might get a little tough but walking through the white slush will definitely be a workout. Don't forget to bring healthy snacks to keep the energy up. So pack up small fruits like grapes that do not require peeling. Just pop and crunch on your way.
- Winter indoors: The feeling of winter doesn’t have to be experienced through the outdoors. You can go to any indoor ice skating rink and skate through the cold air just as if you were outdoors. The great thing here is that you can pack all your favorite snacks such as apples, oranges and bananas and set it aside for break time. No slush, no mess and no clean up!
There are tons of activities you can do during the winter that will help you keep fit and healthy. So take this opportunity to get out of the house and enjoy your winter holiday!
