Many people know of Kin’s Farm Market as a leading specialty produce company in B.C. However, very few people realize that this Canadian-owned company started with a small produce table in Granville Island Market by two brothers named Kin Wah and Kin Hun Leung in 1983.
Originally from Quang Chau, China, the Leung brothers arrived in Canada in 1981 with their parents and sister. As new immigrants, they struggled with the language and culture. But through hard work and an undiminished enthusiasm they easily overcame the adaptation period. In 1983, the brothers decided to open up a produce table in the Granville Island Market.
Their produce table became the most popular stand in the market, so they decided to expand their operations and opened the first Kin’s Farm Market in Richmond in 1987. With the success of the first store, Kin’s Farm Market soon grew to over 25 locations, consistent with its unfailing commitment to freshness, quality, and customer service.
On August 15 at Blundell Centre, we are celebrating 22 wonderful years of serving our communities. So check out the event section on our website for more details.
