A race to the dinner table

Ranked 3rd on a recent Omnibus survey conducted by an independent Market Research Company, Mustel Group, Kin’s Farm Market surpassed large chain supermarkets such as Superstore, Whole Foods, and IGA when it comes to delivering high quality produce at reasonable prices. Lia Fletcher, Kin’s Marketing Manager, was very satisfied with the results. “At Kin’s Farm Market, we strive to deliver the freshest produce to our customers. When we see that the general population recognizes our efforts, it inspires us to work even harder.”

With over 23 years in business, Kin’s Farm Market still operates under the same logistics system to speed past their competitors. Instead of having produce delivered to a distribution centre like most large supermarkets, Kin’s local farmers deliver their produce directly to the stores. Through avoiding the process of delivering to a distribution centre, increased shelf life is added to Kin's fruits and vegetables. "It is important to note that there are times that the produce will be delivered to our warehouse for sorting, but this step takes minimal amount of time" adds Fletcher.

“This is a very important step in our delivery system. It allows us to transport our produce faster to our stores, maintaining the freshness and quality that our customers most value,” says Victor Lau, Kin's purchasing manager. “During the summer, which is our local produce season, the produce delivery from the farms to the stores is even faster. Typically, local strawberries and blueberries are picked and delivered to our stores on the very same morning.” adds Lau.

The local produce season runs from June to August, so with only three short months to buy local, make sure get all your local favourites while you can.
